Double El and Agate Conservation Districts (CD) are announcing the upcoming election of board members for four year terms.
Election will be held Tuesday May 3rd of 2016.
2016 Election Year Info:
Self-nomination petition can be accepted until Friday, February 26, 2016 in the office located at 504 Washington Ave., Simla, Colorado. Write-ins are possible until Monday, February 29, 2016.
If number of nominations received exceeds positions open, election details will be announced.
Both conservation districts are accepting nominations from interested individuals to serve as board members for four-year terms.
Each Conservation District has three board positions open for election in 2016. In order to serve as a board member you must be a qualified elector owning land within the conservation district.
Double El Conservation District Board Member Requirements:
Double El CD board members are elected from three service areas as follows:
- Area 1 is all land north of Highway 24.
- Area 2 is all land south of Highway 24 including Simla, east of Elbert-Elbert County line and extending south to the district boundary.
- Area 3 is all land south of Hwy 24, west of the Elbert-El Paso County line including the town of Calhan and extending south to the district boundary to be area three.
Member Terms up for Election:
George Fosha, Steve Payne and Ricky Sellers.
Agate Conservation District Board Member Elections:
Agate CD board members are elected “at large” and represent all areas of the conservation district.
Agate Board Member Terms Up for Election:
Glenn Benjamin, Ed Butler and Dawson MacLennan.
General Board Information & Elected Member Responsibilities:
Both the Double El & Agate Conservation Boards consist of five board members.
Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings, along with watershed association meetings and the annual meeting of the Colorado Association of Conservation Districts.
