Annual Scholarship Award
The Double El Conservation District is pleased to announce the Double El Conservation District Scholarship. The award of up to $1500.00, payable over two years. It will provide financial assistance to a high school senior planning to attend a four-year college or university, junior college or trade school.
An award of $500 will be given the first year. Recipients may be eligible for a $1000 award the second year, providing a GPA of 3.0 or higher is maintained throughout his or her first year of college. An official college transcript will be required for GPA verification prior to payment of the second-year award.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship applicants must reside within the boundaries of the Double El Conservation District or attend one of the following schools: Calhan, Simla, or Miami-Yoder and some parts of Limon.
An application must be filled out and returned to the Double El Conservation District no later than April 1st.
The application should highlight the applicant’s leadership roles, school and community involvement, character, academic success, and financial need.
In addition to being evaluated in the aforementioned categories, applicants who have participated in conservation efforts or who have parents that are cooperators of the Double El Conservation District will receive additional points.
Selection and Acceptance
A committee appointed by the Board of Directors of the Double El Conservation District will select the scholarship recipient and the winner will be notified in May.
The recipient must notify the Double El Conservation District office of acceptance or refusal of the scholarship, in writing, by June 15th.
Upon accepting the scholarship, the recipient must also complete additional information for the scholarship to be awarded.
This information must accompany your written acceptance of the scholarship.
The scholarship will be paid directly to the institution that the recipient is attending.
Application Requirements
Applications that do not contain all the requested materials or that are not complete will not be considered for the scholarship
- Applicants must turn in a completed application, along with completed essay and personal answers to questions within the application, to the Double El Conservation District by April 1st.
- A high school transcript must accompany the application.
- Two letters of recommendation must accompany the application. One letter must be from a school faculty member who has had the applicant as a student.
- A cover letter from the applicant to the Double El Conservation Scholarship Committee must accompany the application.
