Annual Scholarship Award
The Double El Conservation District is pleased to announce the Double El Conservation District Scholarship. The award of up to $1500.00, payable over two years. It will provide financial assistance to a high school senior planning to attend a four-year college or university, junior college or trade school.
An award of $500 is given the first year with a renewable option of $1000 for the second year upon verification of a 3.0 GPA for the first year of completed college. An official college transcript is required for the GPA verification for second year award.
Eligibility
Applicants must live within the District or attend a high school within the boundaries of the Double El CD. (Calhan, Miami-Yoder, or Simla and some areas of Limon). In addition, applicants will receive bonus points if their parents are cooperators of the Double El CD.
Applications for the scholarship must be returned to Double El CD no later than April 1st.
The scholarship winner will be selected on the basis of leadership qualities, high school and community activities, financial need, academic record, character and sincerity.
Selection and Acceptance
A committee appointed by the Board of Directors of the Double El Conservation District will select the scholarship recipient and the winner will be notified in May.
The recipient must notify the Double El Conservation District office of acceptance or refusal of the scholarship, in writing, by June 15th.
Upon accepting the scholarship, the recipient must also complete additional information for the scholarship to be awarded.
This information must accompany your written acceptance of the scholarship.
The scholarship will be paid directly to the institution that the recipient is attending.
Application Requirements
Applications that do not contain all the requested materials or that are not complete will not be considered for the scholarship
- Applicants must turn in a completed application, along with completed essay and personal answers to questions within the application, to the Double El Conservation District by April 1st.
- A high school transcript must accompany the application.
- Two letters of recommendation must accompany the application. One letter must be from a school faculty member who has had the applicant as a student.
- A cover letter from the applicant to the Double El Conservation Scholarship Committee must accompany the application.
