Overview:
Categories: Evergreen, Proven Performer, Wildlife Value, WindbreakA small to medium evergreen tree than reach up to 45 ft, native of western North America and adapted to a wide range of soils and moisture conditions. Slow growing, long lived and winter hardy, it has performed well over the years in our area and is one of our top recommendations for windbreaks.
Use in outer rows of multi-row plantings, where it won’t be over-topped by taller trees. It can also be used in single or twin row high-density windbreak plans, when a dense, medium height barrier is desired.
Provides food and cover for numerous birds and mammals and winter offerings are particularly important for pheasants, mule and whitetail deer.
Relatively free of serious insect or disease problems, coupled with excellent drought tolerance makes the Rocky Mountain Juniper a favorite for conservation goals in our area.
