Medium shrub; grows well on most soils; to 9,500′. Widely used for hedges, screens and windbreak purposes – with seasonal white flowers, good winter hardiness and medium tolerance of drought and shade.
Provides roosting and loafing cover numerous song and game birds; some utilize the fruits for food where the red berry fruits may be persistent on plant for months into the winter.
Use in outer rows of multi-row plantings, or in a single row where a short, dense barrier is desired.
