Deciduous, medium sized, drought tolerant tree; grows well on most soils; to 8,000′ elev.
Used extensively on the Great Plains, it is known for it’s rapid growth in almost any environmental condition and it’s hardiness to drought and cold.
Although it does well in Double El district area, it is prone to fall die-back from early frosts.
Can be used in the central or leeward rows of multi-row windbreaks.
Use caution with herbicides when working around these trees.
